Li and Sun Private Foundation is a self-funded 501(c)(3) private foundation in Orange County, CA, USA. We are not a political organization, and this is not a fundraising site.
The foundation
Li and Sun Private Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private foundation. This site is a public record of who we are. It is not a campaign page, and it is not a place to ask for money.
Why we exist
The organizers of this foundation are legal immigrants. We escaped a communist system in which there was no freedom of speech. In that order, an honest sentence is not a right. It is a risk. We did not leave because life was merely inconvenient. We left because a country that cannot tolerate free expression cannot be trusted with the rest of a person’s life.
We came to the United States to live in a country where speech is protected, government is limited by law, and people are treated as individuals. The law is supposed to see a person, not a racial, ethnic, or sexual category. Newcomers are expected to assimilate into that civic order rather than remake it. We come not to alter but to adapt and assimilate.
That is the honest bargain of legal immigration: learn the language of the law, the habits of self-government, and the limits a Constitution places on power. People who join this country should know that is what they joined. The foundation exists so they can.
How we are funded
Li and Sun Private Foundation is entirely self-funded. We do not seek external funding. We do not ask for grants, donors, or public money, and we do not put a donation button on this site.
This is not a fundraising site. Independence of that kind is the point. A foundation that does not live on other people’s money does not have to tailor its teaching to a funder’s taste. Outgoing grants and scholarships, described under What we do, are how some of that self-funded work is spent.
What we are not
We are not a political organization. We do not run campaigns or endorse candidates. We do not support protests or movements. Our work is civic education, not activism. Understanding the country is not the same as trying to capture it.
